Bugaboo Base Camp

‍ ‍The Bugaboos: A Week in the Granite Cathedral

Few ranges in North America command the respect of the Bugaboos. Rising abruptly from the glaciers of British Columbia's Purcell Mountains, these soaring granite spires are a benchmark destination for serious alpinists. A week spent among them is an experience that doesn't leave you.

This 5-day guided trip takes experienced climbers deep into one of Canada's most striking alpine environments. From the Applebee Dome camp, you'll have direct access to the iconic objectives that have defined technical alpinism on the continent: the Northeast Ridge of Bugaboo Spire, the Beckey-Chouinard on South Howser Tower, the classic lines on Snowpatch and Pigeon. The terrain demands confidence on steep rock, comfort moving efficiently on glaciated approaches, and the mental sharpness to make sound decisions in a committing, remote setting.

Each day brings its own set of variables — shifting weather, long ridgelines, exposed belays, and the particular satisfaction of topping out on stone that took everything you had to get up. Your guide manages the logistics, reads the conditions, and helps you climb at the upper edge of what's possible in the time you have. The decisions are shared; the mountain does the rest.

This is not a trip for building foundational skills. It's for climbers who already have them, and who are ready to put them to use somewhere that matters.

Guiding services are provided. Climbers are responsible for their own equipment, travel, and hut or camp arrangements.
