Day 0: Arrive & Meet
Day 1: Shakedown Tour
If weather cooperates we will ski down the 9000’ Mer de Glace and take the Montenvers train back to town. Along with spending time at altitude we will review some of the basic skills needed for the trip. As well as make some great turns down an incredible backdrop. And if we are lucky, maybe ski through some ice tunnels.
Arrive in Chamonix and settle into the vibrant culture of the French Alps. Today is all about tying up loose ends, recovering from travel, and preparing for the climb ahead. Take time to manage jet lag, relax, and explore the charming streets, cozy cafés, and stunning alpine scenery that make Chamonix a true paradise on earth. Dinner tonight will be a good intro into European cuisine.
Day 2: Argentière Glacier
Technically the first day of the traverse. We will take the Grand Montet lift and ski down to the magical Argentier Glacier. Tonight we will stay at the Argentiere Hut, and look out at the famous north face of Le Droites and the Aiguille Verte.
Day 3: Chardonnet or Passon
Depending on our fitness and stoke we can either go over the col du Chardonnet or the Col du Passon. Both bring us higher into the upper reaches of the alps.
Day 4: Verbier
Today is a day for downhill skiing! A short via feratta followed by a 5000 ft descent down to Champex Lac. A taxi will take us to Verbier where we can enjoy the sights of classic swiss architecture. People will have a chance to explore the famous freeride capitol of the world or afternoon siesta if the body needs it.
Day 5: Rosablanche
From the Mont Fort Hut we will climb up to Rosablanche. Summitting early and have an amazing ski down to the Prafleuri and if we are lucky we can make it in time to enjoy a traditional Rösti.
Day 6: Dix
Today is one of those hard days where the skiing is more about the scenery than the fall line. We will traverse around Lac du Dix and eventually up to the hut.
Day 7: Vignettes
From the Dix hut we will climb over Mount Arolla and enjoy an epic descent down to the Vignettes hut.
Day 8: Zermatt
A big push and finish to the epic traverse. We will cross 7mi of glacier, then drop almost 7000ft down to Zermatt. After taking a quick shower we can finally sit down, sip an Aperol spritz and enjoy the comfort that our body can finally rest.
