Mittellegi Ridge
The most notorious mountain in the Alps. A soaring crest of rock that divides the gentle eastern slopes from the dark void of the North Face.
Children hear stories about it before they can pronounce its name. Alpinists dream about it. Visitors stand below and stare upward in disbelief.
For more than a century, the Eiger has occupied a unique place in mountaineering history. Its legendary North Face has inspired triumph, tragedy, and some of the greatest climbs ever completed in the Alps.
At just under 4,000 meters, the Eiger is often overlooked by peak baggers chasing bigger numbers. But experienced climbers know that a mountain's character matters far more than its elevation. Few peaks possess the beauty, history, and presence of the Eiger.
Throughout the climb, the infamous Nordwand falls away beneath your feet, a thousand meters of history and consequence. The summit is only the destination. The Mittellegi is the one of the grandest of experiences. One of the most beautiful alpine ridges in the world and an unforgettable journey across the crown of the Eiger.
